How much sleep is enough?

Sleep is the very essential ingredient of rest that the brain requires. It is a medically proven fact that “Brain never sleeps” because the brain sleeps permanently causing comatose state or most of the times death. The only time the brain relaxes and operates to a minimum is when you are asleep. Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night. People who are well rested feel alert and do not have the urge to nap. Sleep deprivation is a common complaint which occurs mainly due to inadequate time for sleep, Excessive worry, depression, Repeated awakenings from noise, Working at night, travel across time zones, Medical illness causing pain, difficulty breathing, etc.

Sleep deprivation causes many problems in the natural pattern of a human being. If this becomes a chronic problem, sleep deprivation can cause difficulties with social relationships because of irritability; as well as some significant medical problems. A new research offers yet another reason to get more sleep. In a study published in the British journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine, researchers in Australia and New Zealand report that sleep deprivation can have some of the same hazardous effects as being drunk.
